By Jerry W. Kram
The wins have been scarce for the New Town Eagles wrestling team in its first two meets, but Head Coach Andy Hagen says the young team is gaining experience and is improving quickly.
The Eagles had their second and final home meet in the Region 4 Quadrangle where they and the Watford City Wolves faced off against Region 4 powerhouses Hettinger/Scranton and Bowman County. The latter two teams dominated the competition, but the Eagles had a couple of bright spots.
At 182 pounds,Isaac Goodall had two pins, one over Dallas Samdons of Bowman County in 11 seconds and another over Hettinger/Scranton’s Damon Cornelius at 5:55 mark. Bronson Flynn notched another victory at 220 pounds pinning Beau Jeffers of Bowman County in 3:46. He lost to Jacob Schalesky of Hettinger/Scranton at 285 pounds by a 13-8 decision. Joseph George accounted for the Eagles’ remaining points, earning 3 with a 6-3 decision over Hettinger/Scranton’s Ty Warbis.
