Storm thunder over Fort Peck

Lady Storm still rebuilding
By Jerry W. Kram
The Storm and Lady Storm of Nueta, Hidatsa and Sahnish College returned to their home court at the Northern Lights Building in New Town Monday and the men came away with a victory. The Storm beat the Fort Peck Community College Buffalo Chases 80-70 while the Lady Storm came up short against the Williston State College Tetons by a score of 68-55.
The Lady Storm had a hard time getting close to the basket with the defense of the Tetons. The Storm’s Jess Hale scored just six points in the paint, although she added two three point baskets and four free throws to lead the team in scoring. Meanwhile, the Tetons were deadly from outside, dropping 13 three point baskets, seven of those coming in the first half.
Lady Storm Head Coach Clinton Wolfe said this is a rebuilding year for the Lady Storm. A dozen players from last year’s team which won the American Indian Higher Education Consortium championship graduated, and the women are still learning how to come together as a team.
